Thought of the Day – 8/19/14

I binge-watched Orange Is The New Black on Netflix over the last week and Red, who may always be Captain Janeway to me, offered up my newest life philosophy.

You don’t drink poison and wait for it to kill your enemy… Plot your revenge.

Something to think about…

“Isn’t it queer: there are only two or three human stories, and they go on repeating themselves as fiercely as if they had never happened before; like the larks in this country, that have been singing the same five notes over for thousands of years.”

– Willa Cather “O, Pioneers!”

Food for thought…

“The end of man is knowledge, but there is one thing he can’t know. He can’t know whether knowledge will save him or kill him. He will be killed, all right, but he can’t know whether he is killed because of the knowledge which he has got or because of the knowledge which he hasn’t got and which if he had it, would save him.”

Robert Penn Warren, All the King’s Men
